FT Pipeline Systems

We have a number of divisions in FT Pipeline Systems (FTPS), all serving the water and gas industries, and each division employs the top people in the UK for those particular disciplines.

Steel Water Pipeline Division. In the 1990s we developed a way of welding steel water pipelines together without damaging the internal epoxy linings. It is called the E Joint system and is now used on every large diameter steel water pipeline in the UK, replacing cement lined steel pipes. We have supplied thousands of pipes and fittings into the UK, all between 600mm and 2000mm diameter, to all the main UK water companies. Our largest current schemes are 75% of the pipes being supplied to Anglian Water’s SPA pipeline and all of the pipes being delivered to Northumbrian Water’s TSM pipeline. We also supply the Canusa heat shrink joint protection and pipe spacers for all of these types of schemes. All our large diameter water pipelines are made by a Turkish pipe mill called Erciyas, who make the E Joint pipes to our specification. The E Joint fittings are made by Lortub in NE France, who developed the E Joint with us 30 years ago. The director in charge of this division is Ian Harding, who is the knowledge lead in the UK for steel water pipelines.
Ductile Iron Division. In 2007 we started our DI division stocking and selling DI blue and red pipes and fittings and flanged bespoke items. We started at number ten in the industry, and we are now number three in the UK with only St Gobain and Electrosteel ahead of us. The two directors who run this division are Rob Peberday and Dave Thornton. Rob and Dave are the most experienced DI supply personnel in the UK and their expertise lies in putting together packages of pipe, fittings, bespoke flanged items, VJ couplings etc. A primary reason for the success of our DI division is our supply chain management, the correct stock levels in our warehouses in the Midlands and our JIT attitude to supplying our 400 water utility contractor customers. Gas Division. Our gas division designs, manufactures, installs and commissions Gas Pressure Reducing Skids for the Hydrogen, NG and Biomethane industries, for gas control from 500 bar down to millibar. The director who runs this division is Andy Fraser and we pride ourselves on being the best in the UK at what we do and encourage our customers to give us their most complicated gas pressure problems. The skid designs are done by Phil Holland of Zennergy Ltd and the paperwork and supporting documentation is always up to date and complete, taking longer to assemble than the actual build itself. All NG skids are also prepped for 30% Hydrogen mix. Our 100% Hydrogen skids are made in stainless steel. The Governors, Slam Shuts, Safety Devices and Pressure Regulators are made by Gascat in Brazil, who are the world’s leading manufacturer of gas control products. We are at the heart of the UK Government Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP), having supplied innovative fuel switching skids for Hanson and Tarmac, the world’s first hydrogen-fuelled brick oven for Hybrick and we are currently designing and making the pressure control skid for world’s first hydrogen-fuelled crematorium on the south coast. In the last three years our customers have included Cadent, Lockheed Martin, EON, Sembcorp, Altrad Doosan, Anglo American and BAE Systems. We design and manufacture Gas Smoothing Plants and our own Pre Heat systems as well.
Water Treatment Division. Our WT division makes a unique flexible, dual contained chemical dosing hose, for transporting dangerous water treatment chemicals such as Chlorine, Sodium Hydroxide and Sulphuric Acid from A to B, to treat water and wastewater on water treatment sites and industrial process plants etc. The unique nature of the dual contained hose is that leak detection comes as standard, and the hose is supplied from diameters 6mm up to 50mm and in continuous coils of up to 500m. This means that there are no joints in the system, which are normally the weak points of any hose assembly on WT works. We are specified in all the UK water companies and 40% of our turnover is export. Our dual contained hose is unique, has been on the market for the last six years and in that time there has never been a recorded leak. The director in charge of this division is Roger Attisha.
Stop Tap Box Locking Replacement Lids Division. FTPS’s unique anti-vandal locking lids are available in a wide range of sizes and are used by virtually every water company in the UK. The lids are quick and easy to install consequently saving water companies thousands of pounds each year. We introduced a new range of Smart Lids in 2020 which boost the signal from the leakage logger.
